Counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal are among the top five counties in the country when it comes to purchasing a house for a sole buyer.
That’s according to the website Swithcer.ie.
Their Index shows the most affordable places to buy a home were not necessarily in the areas with the lowest house prices.
Although cheaper property prices help, having a comparably higher income makes your mortgage more affordable and deposits take less time to save.
The Top 5 affordable places for sole buyers were found to be in Leitrim, Longford, Donegal Roscommon and Sligo.
In Leitrim, the website claims some of the cheapest house prices in Ireland can be found.
It’s claimed that the average Leitrim house buyer is older than the norm – at around 46 and the median income is around €40,000.
