House prices continue to rise in North West



Donegal continues to have the most affordable homes in the country, according to the Real Estate Alliance.

 

However, house prices in the county have risen a further 3.4% in the first quarter of 2023.

 

The average house price in Donegal is now €150,000, up €17,500 in the last year.

 

The new figures have revealed that Donegal is followed by Cavan and Longford.

 

The Real Estate Alliance (REA)/Irish Independent Average House Price Index identified a worsening supply of homes nationwide in 2023.

 

In Donegal, the demand continues to come from buyers in Northern Ireland looking for holiday homes as well as a strong local market, according to Roger McCarrick of REA McCarrick in Bundoran.

 

In Sligo the average house price is 197,500, up 1.3%

 

The average price for a three bed semi house in County Leitrim was 171,500, up 1.2%

 

Across Leitrim, first-time buyers made up 57% of the market during Q1 with 23% coming from buyers moving out of the cities.
