ESB profits criticised by Sligo councillor

A Sligo councillor has criticised further profits announced by the ESB.

It comes as the ESB announced a rise in operating profits hitting 847 million euro, which is an increase of almost 25 percent from 679 million euro from the end of December 2021.

Electric Ireland have also said they will forego any profits from soaring energy prices by giving money back to struggling customers, and by paying more money into a hardship fund.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Sinn Féin Councillor Arthur Gibbons says that ESB should look after their customers, particularly at a time when so many are struggling with rising costs.
