Family support service in Sligo suffering from ‘chronic lack of funding’



Springboard family support service in Sligo is said to be suffering from a chronic lack of funding.

 

The facility for early childhood development is located in Cranmore and provides a range of services for those in disadvantaged areas in the town.

 

There are 32 children currently engaged in the service but due to rising energy costs their future is in jeopardy.

 

The issue was raised by Labour Party Leader Ivana Bacik, after paying a visit to Sligo and the facility earlier this week.

 

Deputy Bacik says any reduction in service would have a seriously detrimental effect on the community of Sligo.

 

Responding, Tanaiste Michael Martin says significant resources have already been put into the service but will explore the matter further:
