Donegal Councillor claims power outages is causing frustration



It’s been claimed that people working from home in Ballyshannon are losing a day’s work over frequent power outages in the area.

 

Frustration in the community is said to be growing over the issue with businesses impacted and some equipment damaged as a result.

 

The ESB is being urged to carry out a thorough investigation.

 

Cllr Barry Sweeney believes there is definite fault on the line and it must be addressed as a matter of urgency:

 

Meanwhile it’s being claimed that energy providers should  have a moral obligation to pass on the fall in wholesale electricity prices to hard pressed consumers.

 

That’s the view of the leader of the Rural Independent Group of TD’s.

New figures revealed wholesale electricity prices fell by 41% in the last three months of 2022.

 

Prices are now cheaper than they were before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

 

Independent Deputy Mattie Mc Grath said failure to pass on immediate reductions is totally unacceptable:
