Drumkeerin councillor unhappy with the idea of rural motorists picking up tab for abolishing toll charges

A Drumkeerin based councillor says Proposals to tax all motorists and abolish road tolls, are  ‘anti-rural’.

Charging motorists for using entire road network is being considered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

If approved, this would remove all existing tolls charges.

Cllr Padraig Fallon says motorists are already paying high fuel prices and road taxes.

He says making rural motorists t pick up tab for abolishing toll charges will be benefit city commuters in the likes of Dublin and Limerick is completely unfair.
