Former Sligo Rovers star gets Longford coaching role

Former Sligo Rovers defender Gavin Peers has been appointed as a first-team coach with Longford Town.

Peers, who won a League title and three FAI Cups with Sligo Rovers as a player, joins Stephen Henderson’s coaching team at Bishopsgate for the season ahead.

Peers made 441 club appearances in a career which also included stints with St Patrick’s Athletic, Derry City, Glentoran, Blackburn Rovers and Mansfield.

The Dubliner retired from playing in May of last year – and has worked as a pundit on the LOI online TV show.
