Arctic weather continues to hit the north west

The National Emergency Coordination Group is meeting again today to monitor the severe weather.

It’s expected to meet every day this coming week, to discuss how to manage the arctic blast which will last until Friday.

The group is ”confident” schools and public transport will stay open.

An orange warning for ice / low temperatures and freezing fog for the whole country is in place until midday.

Many roads across the north west region particularly secondary roads are being described as lethal by Gardaí this morning who are warning motorists to proceed with caution.

Although it’s though that whereas the conditions are not as bad as difficult as yesterday and that the majority of main roads have been treated there are still some very challenging conditions on the regions secondary roads which local authorities may not have been able to treat.
