Fermanagh MLA claims removal of emergency surgical services from the South West Acute Hospital is bad news for the north west

It’s being claimed that the decision to remove emergency surgical services from the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen will be felt in the counties of Sligo, Leitrim Donegal as well as Fermanagh and Tyrone.

The move was confirmed by the Western Health and Social Care Trusts yesterday evening and will be implemented on December 18th.

Despite saying the move was temporary, the trust did not say when it expected emergency general surgery would resume.

Sinn Féin MLA Jemma Dolan says the public now need clarity and honesty from the Western Trust and the Department adding that patients and staff an deserve transparency from the Trust.
