County Sligo records almost 1,850 criminal offences in 2021

There were almost 1,850 criminal offences reported in County Sligo in 2021.

It comes as 40 per cent of Garda stations across the country recorded an increase in crime last year compared to pre-covid levels in 2019.

An analysis of CSO figures by the Irish Independent found fraud more than doubled to over 17-thousand cases last year.

Garda stations in County Sligo recorded a majority increase in crime in 2021 compared to pre-pandemic levels, despite being subject to lockdown restrictions for large parts of the year.

This figure excludes homicide, sexual and most road traffic offences.
