Glencar/Manorhamilton beaten in Connacht semi-final

Glencar/Manorhamilton women’s gaelic footballers bowed out of the Connacht LGFA senior club football championship on Monday when they were beaten by Mayo champions Burrishoole on a final scoreline of 0-14 to 2-5.

The Leitrim champions were attempted to reach their second consecutive provincial decider but came up against an impressive Burrishoole team who had won the Mayo LGFA senior title for the first time in the club’s history.

Glencar/Manor trailed by 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time but second-half goals from Leah Fox and Muireann Devaney (penalty) gave them fresh hope.

A yellow card for the impressive Rebecca Rooney 10 minutes from the end was a setback and the Mayo champions would edge to victory by three points.

Muireann Devaney top scored for Glencar/Manor with 1-4 – and goalkeeper Michelle McNulty produced a string of fine saves in both halves.

Burrishoole will face reigning Connacht and All-Ireland champions Kilkerrin-Clonberne of Galway in the final.
