Sligo Councillor in favour of eviction ban

There’s been a mixed reaction today to a ban being placed on evictions.

The Tánaiste says a ban on evictions will give the government ‘breathing space’ to put more social housing in place.

Cabinet is expected to freeze evictions until the end of March, after the Attorney General gave plans the go-ahead.

The Irish Property Owners’ Association says it intends to take a constitutional challenge to the ban.

Sligo Strandhill People Before Profit councillor Gino O Boyle says the eviction ban had to be introduced with the crisis escalating in the north west.
