Strand Celtic soccer Laura McGuinn made her senior international debut for Ireland in their opening match of the European Deaf Futsal Championships in Italy.
McGuinn, who coaches the Strand Celtic girls under-12 team, starred in a 5-0 win over Israel on Thursday.
She has enjoyed a successful playing career with Strand and is now deeply involved with the club at coaching level.
This is her first Ireland selection.
The Irish are in a four-team group at the Euros, which also includes Germany and Spain.
They will play the Germans on Saturday before taking on Spain the following day.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the quarter-finals.
The Championships run until October 22nd in Montesilvano, Italy.
