Vigils take place in Donegal to remember those that lost their lives in Creeslough tragedy



Several vigils have been held across Donegal to remember the 10 people killed in an explosion in Creeslough.

 

Gardai named the victims yesterday and are trying to find out the cause of the blast a petrol station on Friday.

 

The funeral of one of those who died  will be held on Tuesday when Martin McGill who was 49 will be laid to rest.

 

The funeral of 48 year old James O’Flaherty will be held on Wednesday in St Mary’s Church in Derrybeg.

 

Sinn Fein Donegal TD Padraig MacLochlainn says locals in the county want to support the bereaved families:

 

 

One man is continuing to fight for his life in St James’ Hospital in Dublin, three days after the tragedy took place.

 

Pope Francis has issued a papal message to all those affected by the Creeslough tragedy.

The message was sent  to the Bishop of Raphoe Alan McGuckian.

 

His Holiness the pope stated that he was “saddened to learn of the loss of life and destruction caused by the explosion in Creeslough”.

 

He also expressed “his spiritual closeness to all those suffering in the aftermath of this tragedy.
