A Donegal Sinn Fein TD says while his party understands that there needs to be a concrete levy, he believes that it’s currently misplaced.
It comes as the Dáil is to debate a Sinn Fein motion this evening, calling for the new levy to be scrapped.
It was introduced in the Budget last week.
Meanwhile the Government is claiming that both Pearse Doherty and fellow Donegal TD Padraig MacLochlainn had previously called for levies to be placed on the industry to fund the mica redress scheme.
