Questions are being asked over how effective having Garda personnel in Galway answer calls from Sligo.
Currently, the communications centre for emergency calls for this region is located in Galway with calls dealt with by Garda there with subsequent direction given.
However it’s thought that it would be less time consuming if some issues were dealt with directly by Gardai locally.
