“We haven’t turned up” – John Russell on 3-1 home defeat to Shamrock Rovers

Sligo Rovers suffered a 3-1 home defeat to leaders Shamrock Rovers in Saturday night’s SSE Airtricity League Premier Division game at the Showgrounds.

Goals from Daniel Cleary, Dylan Watts and Graham Burke gave the visitors a comfortable three points on the night.

Rovers defender Nando Pijnaker scored a consolation goal for the home team.

There were reports of trouble after the game, with social media videos appearing to show images of damage to a Shamrock Rovers supporters bus.

Afterwards, Rovers boss John Russell made no excuses for the nature of the ‘home’ Rovers display.
