St Mary’s & Tourlestrane to contest Sligo SFC final



Holders Tourletrane and St Mary’s are through to the 2022 Homeland Sligo senior football championship following Sunday’s epic semi-final double-bill at Markievicz Park.

St Mary’s won an entralling first semi-final on penalty kicks after their memorable north division tussle with Drumcliffe/Rosses Point finished level at the end of extra-time (2-17 to 1-20).

Mary’s goalkeeper Jack Teape, who had kicked the equalising free for his side at the end of extra-time, saved three Drumcliffe/RP penalites to send his side into the county final on October 16th.

St Mary’s won 3-1 on penalties.

 

St Mary’s manager Mark Breheny paid tribute to both teams when he spoke to Ocean FM Sport’s Dónal Ryan after the game:

 

The second semi-final had plenty of drama too as Tourlestrane, chasing a seventh consecutive Sligo title, edged past a gallant Shamrock Gaels on a final score of 1-13 to 1-11.
