Sligo councillor calls for lifesaving equipment to be kept at Mullaghmore and Rosses Point beaches



There are calls on Sligo County Council to keep lifesaving equipment at both Mullaghmore and Rosses Point beaches all year round.

 

Open water swimming is becoming an ever popular activity among local people however some safety measures at beaches are removed for the winter months.

 

But Cllr Donal Gilroy says swimming is an all year round hobby and efforts should be made to ensure that those partaking feel safe.

 

In particular, Cllr Gilroy wants safety rings at the beaches all year round and offshore buoys to remain in place:
