Man rescued from Downpatrick Head continues to recover at Sligo University Hospital

A man that spent almost 22 hours stranded in a sea cave in Co Mayo is being recovering from his injuries in Sligo University Hospital this morning.

The 40-year-old was dramatically rescued yesterday evening.

The man, a Polish national, got stuck on a ledge in a cave at Downpatrick Head, after being swept into the area during high tide on Saturday evening.

He was then brought to Sligo University Hospital, where he’s currently been treated.
