The Spanish Armada festival returns to Sligo this weekend after two year absence



The Spanish Armada festival returns this weekend and will take place in Grange and Streedagh with a number of events taking place , following a two year break due to Covid 19.

 

Three Spanish Armada ships sank at Streedagh beach in September 1588, and for the past twelve years, locals in Grange have welcomed Spanish visitors from far and wide to Sligo for the annual Armada commemoration.

 

Events including an Armada 8km run and walk and a Climate Change event which will focus on Streedagh Beach as well as the annual remembrance parade

 

Speaking to Ocean FM news Sligo cllr and Committee member for the Armada festival Marie Casserly says there is something this weekend to suit all the family.
