Dail hears calls for action on overcrowding crisis at Sligo University Hospital



The Taoiseach says a number of factors could be contributing to the overcrowding crisis facing Sligo University Hospital.

 

It comes as there were 56 people were waiting for a bed this morning at the facility while the hospital has also issued a statement today, warning of long waiting times in its Emergency Department.

 

Management at the hospital has also confirmed that a total of 312 people attended the ED over the last two days.

 

The issue was raised in the Dail this hour by Sligo Leitrim Independent TD Marian Harkin.
