Aodh Ruadh & Kilcar heading for Donegal quarter-finals

Both Aodh Ruadh Ballyshannon and Kilcar enjoyed comprehensive home victories in Sunday’s Donegal senior football championship matches to all but assure themselves of quarter-final places.

Kilcar overcame a sluggish first half in Towney to score two second-half goals and run out 2-23 to 1-12 winners over Ardara.

Aodh Ruadh scored 3-9 in a strong second half to overpower St Naul’s by 3-17 to 1-10 and make it three wins out of three.

They, along with Kilcar and county champions St Eunan’s are the three sides with 100 percent records.

While it’s not a matematically certainty, the three teams will be planning for championship quarter-finals in advance of next weekend’s round four games.

Five teams are still without a point in the group standings but they have all avoided each other in next weekend’s round four draw.

A single point could be enough to avoid the relegation play-offs, which will involved the bottom four teams.
