A former local and general election candidate in the north west has called for an immediate moratorium to be imposed on Hen and Stagg parties.
Leslie O Hora has made the calls after a number of people have lost their lives while attending such events in recent times at various locations across the country.
As recently as last weekend a man lost in his life following an alleged assault in Athlone.
Paul Connolly died from injuries he sustained in the assault in the early hours of Saturday morning. He’d been on a stag night out.
Unfortunately a number of other people have died following tragic accidents during Stagg and Hen events in recent times.
The former local and general election for the Green Party says too many families have been left devastated by the loss of family members.
He described Hen and stag parties in Ireland are drink binging sessions and says there need to greater accountability for those running or hosting such parties
