Sligo records 28.3 degrees as August temperatures continue to soar



Two stations recorded maximum temperatures over 30°C yesterday, with Oak Park reaching 31.7°C and provisionally beating the previous August record of 31.5°C, which was set in 1995 at the same weather station.

 

The current heat wave saw temperatures yesterday across the country at over 25 degrees. With Markree castle in Sligo recording 28.3 degrees and Finner camp in Donegal recording 25.4 degrees

 

Temperatures of up to 32 degrees are expected today and lots of sunshine but a small chance of showers kicking off this evening. Up to 30 degrees again on Sunday with cloud increasing and the heatwave coming to an end with a bang as thunderstorms are expected, with risk of downpours and flash floods.
