An Independent Sligo Cllr believes that more housing could be provided, if the political will was there.
Latest figures show that there’s currently in excess of 1400 people currently on the Sligo social housing waiting list.
Independent Cllr Declan Bree has this week challenged Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien over the Government’s efforts to alleviate the housing crisis to date.
Minister O’Brien, as part of his visit to Sligo this week outlined that the housing issue needs to be dealt with on phased basis.
But Cllr Bree disagrees, saying the targets are too low to meet demand locally:
