Social Justice Ireland express concern with standard of public transport in the North West



 

Rural public transport services in areas such as the North West are not good enough and need to be improved to help keep costs down.

 

A new report out today from Social Justice Ireland shows people outside major towns and cities rely on expensive car journeys.

 

The group has called on the Government to focus on transport services and cycle infrastructure for rural areas.

 

It’s claimed the lack of an adequate service is damaging the night economy of many towns in this region while concerns have also been expressed in relation to cross border travel.

 

Research analyst with Social Justice Ireland Suzanne Rogers says the lack of public of transport in rural areas is a major concern for many in counties such as Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim:
