Seanad to hear concerns over traveller mental health crisis



An Independent Donegal based senator says she fears the worst every time a family members call late at night, such is the mental health crisis facing her community.

 

The Seanad will today hear calls for the government to act on recommendations made to address traveller health, education and accommodation needs.

 

Traveller women are seven times more likely to die by suicide than those in the general population, while traveller men are six times more likely.
