There are calls on Sligo County Council to instigate a review of the Development Contribution Scheme.
It’s thought that many people living in rural areas do not avail of the same facilities as those living in urban areas and therefore, their fees should be assessed accordingly.
Local Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy believes the current system is unfair.
He says communities should be paying to the scheme based on what their locality has to offer in terms of Council facilities and services:
