Coolaney welfare & pension recipients will now have to collect payments in Collooney

Concern is been expressed today in relation to the future of the local Postal Agency service that is being provided in Collaney.

Recipients of pension and welfare payments in the area reported this morning that they have been informed that from next week their payments will have to be collected in the nearby post Office which is situated in Collooney.

Sligo Drumcliff Councillor Thomas Healy says An Post have confirmed to him that they have terminated the contract of the provider in Coolaney.

The Sinn Fein Councillor says the loss of the service will be a blow to businesses and residents in the Collaney area.  Cllr. Healy says adequate public transport services will have to be provided in order to transport for payments from Coolaney to Coolooney.
