Sligo Rovers prepare for Europa Conference League Draw

Sligo Rovers face potential trips to Gibraltar, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovakia or Wales when the draw for the opening rounds of the 2022-23 Europa Conference League is made on Tuesday at 1pm Irish time.

Sligo Rovers will be one of the unseeded teams in their section of the draw and will be paired with of the following five teams:

Breidablik (Iceland)
CS Fola Esch (Luxembourg)
FC DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda (Slovakia)
Europa FC (Gibraltar)
Bala Town (Wales).

Rovers opening tie will be played over two legs on Thursday, July 7th and Thursday, July 14th.

Confirmation of the date of the home leg will come after the draw on Tuesday.

The club has urged any Rovers fans wishing to travel to the away leg to wait until the fixture is officially confirmed on Tuesday afternoon – as there is a chance UEFA could flip the home & away ties around or change the date slightly.

This will be Sligo Rovers second appearance in UEFA’s new third-tier European competition.

Last season, the bit o’red went out 3-1 on aggregate to Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjörður.

The new competition was eventually won by the José Mourinho-managed AS Roma (Italy).

Derry City are also in this season’s Europa Conference League draw, having finished fourth in the League of Ireland last term.

Tuesday’s draw will be streamed live on the uefa.com website from 1pm.
