Sligo Rovers knocked out of Europe



There was disappointment for Sligo Rovers in Thursday evening’s Europa Conference League second leg as they lost 2-1 on the night to FH Hafnarfjörður and 3-1 on aggregate.

Rovers manager Liam Buckley gave his reaction to Ocean FM Sport’s Cathal Mullaney:

 

Rovers dominated the opening half but were caught by a suckerpunch shortly before the inteval when Steven Lennon, FH’s matchwinner last week in Iceland, put the visitors in front.

Worse was the follow shortly after the re-start when Regan Donelon conceded a penalty.

Substitute Johnny Kenny pulled one back for Rovers after convering a spot kick for the home side – but it was too little too late.
