BREAKING NEWS UPDATE – Two males killed in road traffic accident at Rathcormac



It’s now been confirmed that two males have been killed in a road traffic accident at Rathcormac in Sligo.

The two deceased are the driver and passenger of one vehicle – the accident occurred at approximately 5.20pm this evening.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the accident.

Three cars were involved in the collision. The bodies of both deceased males remain at the scene.

Emergency services are also still at the scene. The N15 is currently closed between Sligo town and Drumcliffe while Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Gardai say the road will remain closed overnight.

Gardaí in Sligo are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) of the Rathcormac area between 5pm and 5.30pm are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

Diversions are in place, as follows, as a result of the N15 road being closed;

Traffic heading south towards Sligo – at Rathcormac Village, divert to Tully Hill and re-enter N15.

Traffic heading north from Sligo- diversion at Bertie’s Pitch and Putt, Teesan, and re-join N15 at Kintogher.

Sligo County Council say it is expected that the temporary road closure will extend into Monday to facilitate examination of accident site by the Forensic Collision Investigation team.
