Leitrim are All-Ireland Pool champions

Leitrim are the All-Ireland intercounty champions of Pool for 2022 following Sunday’s 10-8 victory over Tyrone in the All-Ireland final, played at the Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney.

The Leitrim Pool Association team enjoyed a terrific weekend, with victorys over Louth, Armagh, Cavan and Cork before getting the better of Tyrone in the ‘A’ decider.

John Casey, who’s Chairperson of the Leitrim Pool Association, was in Kerry to cheer the team on to victory.

Twelve months ago, Leitrim lost out to Cavan in the semi-finals – but here they exacted revenge by getting the better of the Breffni county en route to the final.

The team has won national cup titles in recent years, but this is Leitrim’s first ever senior men’s intercounty championship win.

The Leitrim pool team was: Colin Crossan, Wayne Kilmartin, Brendan Shivnan, Kevin McWeeney, Neil Brady, Gavin Donnelly, Jamie Gaffney, Barry Reynolds, Niall Sweeney, Keith Conlon and Seán O’Neill.
