People asked not to climb Errigal this week

People have been asked not to climb Errigal this week in west Donegal to facilitate major works along the mountain path.

McGowan Environmental Engineering Ltd are carrying out the works from today until this Saturday, both dates inclusive.

Traffic management will be in place on the R251 Regional Road on the approaches to the carpark for the duration of the works.

The works are part of the ‘Sustainable Access & Habitat Restoration Project’ at Errigal Mountain which involves the upgrading of a 3km path from the existing car park to the summit of the mountain.

The works aim to enhance the visitor experience and to protect against further erosion of the mountain.

People are being asked for their co-operation and not to climb the mountain during this period as the main mountain access will be closed.
