Dail hears further calls for action on Killybegs fish weighing debacle



The Dail has heard further calls for action on the Killybegs fish weighing debacle.

 

The latest developments centre on the suspension of in-factory weighing permits imposed by the SFPA.

 

It was due to the vessels landing their catch in Derry instead of Killybegs – it’s claimed that the SFPA imposed the sanction as Derry is considered outside of Ireland.

 

Speaking in the Dail, Independent TD Thomas Pringle asked whether or not the Northern Ireland Protocol applies to fish while Minister Simon Coveney says its a support designation issue:
