Almost €500,000 awarded to heritage sites across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal



Almost half a million euro in grants has been awarded for a number of heritage sites across Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.

The funding comes from the Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan’s department the 2022 Community Monuments Fund.

€44,129 will be used for essential repairs at St. Catherine’s Church in Killybegs and €85,000 each to Doon Fort, north of Ardara, St. Mogue’s Abbey in Rossinver, Moygara Castle in Gurteen and Easkey Abbey.

A further allocation of €20,756 for conservation works has given to Assaroe Abbey in Ballyshannon, €18,692 for McSwyne’s Castle in Dunkineely and €30,000 each for Green Fort in Sligo and St. Fechin Church, Ballisodare.
