Funeral has taken place of Red Óg Murphy



The funeral has taken place of the Sligo GAA player Red Óg Murphy.

The funeral mass of the DCU student took place earlier today in St. Patrick’s Church, Moylough.

Mourners consisting of family, friends, college associates, former classmates and representatives from the GAA world heard how Red Og was loved, cherished and adored by all who knew him.

Chief Celebrant Fr Leo Henry Parish Priest of Moylough told the congregation that Red og had ‘a presence that brightened your day’ and although he led a short life it will leave a lasting legacy due to his achievements.

Fr Henry says the death of Red OG has left a huge void in the local Community

The congregation heard accounts of the unique ability that Red Og Murphy displayed as a gaelic footballer, Fr Henry described him as ‘a special person with charisma, that had time for everyone and was a role model for many
