DAIL ROW : Taoiseach and MacSharry clash again, this time over public appointments

Another row has erupted in the Dail between Sligo/Leitrim TD Marc MacSharry and Taoiseach and Fianna Fail Leader Micheal Martin.

The latest exchanges arose this afternoon when the Sligo Leitrim TD challenged the Taoiseach to provide comprehensive answers to the Dáil when it comes to public appointments.

Deputy MacSharry says there is a crisis of confidence in terms of public accountability at present when it comes to public appointments and he accused the cabinet of rubber-stamping the will of senior civil servants.

TDs were requested by the Ceann Comhairle to limit their questions to the Taoiseach to 30 seconds.

After Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl reminded the house of this, Deputy MacSharry criticised the lack of speaking time and the opportunity to pose questions to Party leaders, after which he left the chamber before the Taoiseach had an opportunity to answer his question, saying he knew what the answer would be.
