Three wins in a row for Leitrim following Wexford win

Leitrim senior men’s Gaelic footballers continued their fine form with a five-point victory over Wexford at Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada on Sunday afternoon.

The win, Leitrim’s third in a row, ensures Andy Moran’s side still have a slim chance at promotion going into next weekend’s game against Sligo at Markievicz Park.

Corner-forward Ryan O’Rourke’s goal gave the home side a three-point lead at the interval before Wexford launched a strong second half fight back with Martin O’Connor’s goal and two Donal Shanley points proving the catalyst for the Model County’s fightback.

Darragh Rooney found the back of the net on forty-eight minutes to leave the margin at one before there was action on both sides of the pitch as both sides searched for victory. Ryan O’Rourke (two) and Jack Heslin scored for Leitrim while Robbie Brooks, Mark Rossiter and Ben Brosnan (a free) kept Wexford in touch.

Mohill’s Conor Quinn made sure of the victory with a well-taken goal on seventy-three minutes.
