Sligo suffer league defeat in Tipperary

Sligo senior gaelic footballers suffered their first defeat in Division 4 of the Allianz Football League in Thurles on Saturday night as they lost to Tipperary on a final scoreline of 1-13 to 1-9.

Tony McEntee’s side had more than enough possession and scoring opportunities in the second-half to win the game – but too often, they were unable to convert those chances.

Sligo trailed by three points at half-time (1-8 to 1-5) with Luke Towey supplying Sligo’s goal in one of the few highlights of the first-half.

The men in black and white saw plenty of the ball after the restart but found it difficult to break through the Tipperary rearguard.

And when they did, poor shooting and decision making let them down at key moments.

It’s Tipperary’s first win of their Division 4 campaign.

Listen back to Saturday’s commentary of the game here, as described by Rian Bailey and former Tipperary football manager Liam Kearns.
