WRC talks taking place to resolve School Secretaries dispute



Representatives from the Forsa Trade Union, Department of Education and Department of Finance are due to meet today at the Workplace Relations Committee to try and resolve the issue where all school secretaries would be treated on an equal footing.

 

Currently there is a two-tier pay system in operation with secretaries employed directly by the Department of Education on a different scale of pay compared to privately employed secretaries.

 

Frank Considine is a secretary in St Claire’s National School in Manorhamilton and a member of the Fórsa Union.

 

He says he’s more hopeful than confident when it comes to a resolution being reached today:
