Leitrim’s promotion hopes suffer blow after London defeat

Leitrim’s hopes of promotion from Division Four of the Allianz National League suffered a blow following a two-point defeat to London at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan on Sunday afternoon.

The match was originally scheduled for Avant Money Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada, however adverse weather conditions on Friday and Saturday resulted in the Carrick-on-Shannon venue unplayable.

Sligo’s Eoin Flanagan and James Hynes both featured for London, who made it three wins from three with the victory over Andy Moran’s side.

Mohill’s Keith Beirne was at his high-scoring best, raising the white flag on five occasions for Leitrim while Liam Gavaghan and James Gallagher scored the goals for the exiles.

Next up for Leitrim, it’s Waterford away at Fraher Field on Sunday, February 27th at 2pm.
