Closure of rural garda stations is leaving the north west a prime target for criminals



A Sligo Leitrim TD says he’s ‘hugely’ concerned over the spate of burglaries in the North West region.

 

The Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has promised to raise the issue of an armed support unit for Sligo with the Justice Minister Helen McEntee following exchanges in the Dáil yesterday with Independent TD Marina Harkin.

 

Deputy MacSharry has aired his concerns as 73 year-old Tom Niland is fighting for his life after he was attacked in Skreen, County Sligo last month.
