No GP’s in Sligo terminating pregnancies



A representative for the Sligo Action for Reproductive Rights Access has claimed that three years on from legislation being passed to legalise abortion there are no GP’s available locally for women that want to terminate a pregnancy.

 

Nationally it emerged that Less than one in nine GPs are providing abortion services.

 

GPs are allowed to carry out pregnancy terminations for women less than nine weeks pregnant.

 

But new figures show only 405 provide the service, out of about 3,500 across the country.
