Letterkenny IT bow out of Sigerson Cup

Letterkenny IT’s Sigerson Cup adventure for 2022 came to an end on Tuesday evening in Dangan as they lost out to NUI Galway in their quarter-final by 2-8 to 1-8.

A goal from NUIG corner forward Tomo Culhane proved to be the key score, following a brave second-half rally from LYIT.

The Galway side led by 1-5 to 0-4 at the interval but suffered a setback with the loss of Mayo county player Tommy Conroy through injury.

Maxi Curran’s side inched their way back into the contest and the sides were level at 1-7 each with five minutes remaining.

However, Culhane’s goal and a Matthew Tierney point late on sealed NUI Galway’s place in the semi-finals.
