There is now at least a year wait for a BreastCheck appointment and there are fears the waiting list will continue to grow unless addressed as a matter of urgency.
That’s according to Betty Holmes of Donegal Action for Cancer Care who says as of last October, there were around 6,000 women waiting for a screening in Co. Donegal.
She says people could be going undiagnosed because of the 12 month delay.
Speaking to OceanFM news, Betty Holmes says while she understand Covid-19 remains a serious issue, she fears other medical needs are being left by the wayside.
