Taoiseach tells Doherty Sinn Fein using Mica for political gain

The Taoiseach has told a Donegal TD that Sinn Fein is exploiting the Mica scandal for electoral and political gain.

Micheal Martin made his remark after Deputy Pearse Doherty asked if the proposed mica redress scheme announced yesterday was fit for purpose, saying some people would have to find €45,000 to replace a 2,300 square foot home in Donegal.

However, the Taoiseach pointed out that no opposition party, including Sinn Fein, replied to a written request two months ago seeking proposals on how the scheme could be improved.
