Sentence Hearing due today of men who imprisoned & assaulted Kevin Lunney

A sentence hearing will take place later for three men who falsely imprisoned and seriously assaulted director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, Kevin Lunney.

As part of the hearing, Mr Lunney will be given an opportunity to deliver a victim impact statement to the court, if he so wishes.

Kevin Lunney’s account of what happened to him after he returned home from work on Sept 17th 2019 was accepted by the three judges of the non-jury Special Criminal Court and he was even praised for his recollection of events.

During the 40-day trial, he told them how he was dragged out of his car by a number of masked men before being bundled into the boot of another car.

He then outlined how he was taken to what he believed to be a horse box where he was tortured and ordered to resign from his position at Quinn Industrial Holdings.

A man, who can’t be named by court order, was found to have inflicted most of the injuries and two others; Alan O’Brien (40) and Darren Redmond (27), both from East Wall in Dublin, were also convicted for their roles.

Their sentence hearing is due to get underway later this morning.
