Leitrim continues to have highest Covid-19 rate nationally



Co. Leitrim continues to have the highest 14 day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 in the country.

All local electoral areas in the OceanFM region have also risen.

As of Monday the 15th of November, Manorhamilton had a rate of 1,830 cases per 100,000 people meaning almost 1 in 55 people tested positive for the virus over a two week period in the area.

This was by far the highest rate for all the local electoral areas in the region.

In total there were 1,203 recorded cases across all five local electoral areas between the 2nd and 15th of November.

232 cases were recorded in the South Donegal Local electoral area which represented a rate of 876 Covid-19 infections for every 100,000 people.

The Ballymote Tubbercurry local electoral area recorded the highest number of cases in Sligo with 301 which represents a rate of 1,126.

There were 189 cases in Sligo/Drumcliff with the rate for the local electoral area being 1,069.

Finally, there were 283 cases in the Sligo Strandhill local electoral area which resulted in a figure of 1,339; almost double of what it was last week.

When looking at the 14 day rate for counties as a whole, Leitrim has the highest rate in the country on a figure of 1,663.

Co. Donegal has the fifth highest rate on 1,193 while Sligo has a rate of 1,271.
